Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Line Management
Position Overview:
Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the technical aspects of the entire product line in return ensuring company maintains a competitive edge within the industry. This role requires close collaboration with management and sales to translate market requirements into new innovative product concepts along with maintaining and upgrading existing products. The Mechanical Design Engineer will need to respond to industry changes and customer specifications, provide technical expertise, direct and implement product enhancements, and participate in customer-facing technical reviews and/or troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Transform market requirements into actionable product concepts. Develop new designs along with upgrades to existing products. Compliment with detailed production drawings and manufacturing instructions for new or modified components.
- Customer & Production Support: Provide technical support for sales department, assist with proposals and general drawings to clarify project requirements. Address and resolve specification deviations with production and actively participate in necessary modifications.
- Project Leadership: Lead R&D projects, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines while providing technical oversight and maintaining a focused team environment.
- Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Mentor staff on principles of machine design, component manufacturability, and industry standards. Provide technical support to customers and field teams.
- Customer Interaction: Occasionally represent Jensen Mixers in customer interactions, including technical troubleshooting, detailed specification discussions, and support for technical reviews.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Design Engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years in mechanical design, with prior experience in rotating equipment for Oil & Gas, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Pump industries preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in CAD, Ansys software, and MS Office, with strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, materials mechanics, drawing and machining practices, and component manufacturability.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills, capable of evaluating machinery form, fit, and function, as well as thermal loadings, bolting requirements, and instrumentation data.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with advanced organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Demonstrates leadership, risk assessment, and decision-making abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of staff along with vendors and customers.
