JOB SUMMARY:
The 5S and Cleaning Technician is generally responsible for successfully establishing and maintaining all areas of the manufacturing facility using the 5S principles of lean manufacturing (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain). This role is instrumental in establishing and maintaining the 5S methodology within the manufacturing facility through Visual Management practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Instrumental in establishing and maintaining the 5S methodology within the manufacturing facility.
• Drive Visual Management practices by performing such tasks as painting, labeling, marking and organizing.
• Perform cleaning in the facility to maintain appearance including operating floor scrubbers, power washers, wiping down equipment.
• Encourage Operations to maintain their areas while providing cleaning support.
• Ensure the outer premises are always in such condition to make a positive first impression on employees, customers and guests by maintaining the aesthetics of the buildings and grounds.
• May assist the maintenance team with minor maintenance and repair requirements as it pertains to the buildings and grounds.
• Complete accurate record keeping associated with grounds and facility inspections and environmental documents.
• Takes ownership and pride in the facility.
• Instrumental in ensuring the facility is safe for all employees, customers and guests.
• Maintain excellent on-time attendance record.
• Be familiar with and support the effort of implementing the quality policy and ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems, if applicable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Must be able to read English and interpret documents such as safety data sheets and product labels.
• Ability to operate equipment such as floor scrubbers, power washers, forklifts and gas powered hand tools.
• Knowledge of safe use and disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Familiarity with basic handyman practices
• Ability to interact and communicate policies and procedures with all employees in a professional manner to ensure compliance.
• Must have a passion for cleaning and take initiative.
• Ability to participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and key in facility hazard assessments.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • High School diploma or GED required TRAINING
REQUIREMENTS: Various Safety and Quality training as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
• Requires the safe use of cleaning chemicals and pesticides.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environments.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, sometimes including weekend/nights.
