We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Welding Supervisor/Welding Engineer to join our team in Oklahoma City. This role is critical in overseeing welding operations, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of welding techniques, and experience in supervising a team in a manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Leadership:
• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of welders and welding operators, ensuring that all work meets company standards and client specifications.
• Coordinate daily welding operations, including job assignments, workflow, and workforce scheduling.
Welding Operations:
• Develop and optimize welding processes, procedures, and techniques to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to plan welding operations.
• Oversee welding operation budgets ($1 - 1.5M/year) to ensure the shop is adequately supplied while aligning with the company's financial objectives.
• Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of welding equipment and tools.
• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure welded products meet specifications and standards, including AWS, ASME, and other relevant codes.
• Order welding materials in compliance to code and client specifications.
Continuous Improvement:
• Lead initiatives to improve welding processes and productivity, including implementing new technologies and methodologies.
• Collaborate with the engineering team and vendors to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions to manufacturing challenges.
• Provide input on material selection, welding techniques, and equipment upgrades to enhance production quality and efficiency. We look forward to hearing from you and your interest in joining a great TEAM!
Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of welding operations, including budgetary reports, quality control documentation, radiography percentages and welder continuity logs.
• Prepare and present reports on welding performance, production metrics, and safety compliance to management pertaining to welding.
Qualifications:
Education:
• We place a high value on direct, hands on welding experience. Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certification is highly desirable.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding, supervision or welding engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Extensive knowledge of welding techniques, processes, and materials, particularly in carbon and alloy steels.
• Experience with welding standards such as ASME section IX & VIII as well as AWS D1.1.
Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and safety standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment as well as an office setting with direct interface with clients.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and welding helmets.
